First Step
Before contemplating any business opportunities outside your principle country of operation, remember that there is no such thing as free lunch so the first and most important question you must ask yourself is: Do I have the resources (financial and human) to make the move? If yes then and only then take next steps. Ideally you should be an established business in your home country, and see internationalisation as part of your strategic growth plan.
Few simple steps you should consider:
- It is always useful to do your own initial desk research on the country you wish to expand into, before spending your valuable resources engaging professionals, which we strongly recommend you do when the time is right.
- Get advice from Government and other local sources.
- Talk to companies that have done it.
- Engage experts to help and advise you, e.g. JVI for market entry to India
- Finally Research, Research, Research!
Internationalising your business is a complex journey regardless of destination you choose. It requires careful planning, immense research and most important of all experts who have the skills and know-how to help, advise and guide you.
